Thumbs down The Most Important Article On BACKLINK AND GOOGLE PR You Will Ever Read!!!

Back Links and Google Page Rank

The actual relationship between inbound links and Google Page Rank is not well known in the search engine community. All we have are “expert opinions” which may or may not be entirely correct. This article will take a closer look to find out what is really happening.

For SEO, a technical understanding of back links and Google Page Rank is essential to answering common questions asked by non-technical SEO clients, and to gain insights to improve the current SEO strategy. It has been proven many times, however, that Google PR equates to link popularity, and then high popularity means “importance” but does not necessarily equate to “relevance.” This is why we can see low PR sites appearing high in search engine results.

This article is NOT about improving Page Rank to improve rankings. This will not happen anyway. If you're trying to improve your rank in the search engines, look to improve things that are more important than Page Rank (content, conversion rate, links from topical communities, etc)........Read More

Happy Backlinking

I'm off to read the full article, but just something I wonder about...

"This article is NOT about improving Page Rank to improve rankings. This will not happen anyway. If you're trying to improve your rank in the search engines, look to improve things that are more important than Page Rank..."

If improving PageRank doesn't improve your rankings, why do we care what our PageRank is?

Wow, yeah that is a really good article.

The regression analysis showed a strong correlation between PR and inbound links - which we affirms what we already know...

The part I find most interesting is that PR works like an MMORPG video game. It's easy to move up the first few levels, but then it gets exponentially harder. Basically, to get to the next level it takes about 5x as many links as it did to get to the previous level.

Interesting stuff...

PR0 1
PR1 5
PR2 25
PR3 125

And so on...

Feel like I'm playing WOW .

AFAIK, to receive PR 'n' you need
- single PR 'n+2' backlink, or
- 5 or 6 PR 'n+1' backlinks or
- 25 to 35 PR 'n' backlinks or
- 125 to 180 PR 'n-1' backlinks or
- ...
or any combination

For me a page rank is like a home decoration, because it only gives beauty and reputation to a website. Page rank for me only serves as a reputation meter. People nowadays must focus more on keyword research because this is the most important rather than Page Ranks.

Yes, one of my sites, a one page with very little content, just got a PR3.
Nowhere to be seen in google for my key words... PR dosen't matter.

Thanks for sharing. I have my reservations
though of any idea to downgrade the need
to work for a high PR.

Cheers!

I think your article is nice but in my own opinion building link will automatically improve your PR specially if quality.

PR is an element Google looks at once it begins evaluating the links websites have before giving them ranks but stressing too much over that might be a mistake since it is only one item from among hundreds to think of when it comes to working on improving the sites ranks and PR will continue to be discussed among webmasters for years.
