Googles New Algo

Hello everyone I'm new to posting on forums.

EDIT 2: Sorry I keep editing this post I really am crap at convaying messages via typing. Basically this post should have read:

Googles florida update was so obvious it hurts.
Google now only counts incoming links with a PR4+ as good links. Thats why many of us have dropped off the face of the planet. We need better incoming links! Meanwhile its killing me.

PS: I'm hoping I'm wrong - If so let me know, so I can leave my computer for 5 mins. LOL.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original Post:

Basically google's screwing my head up, my site was ranking number 7 on a 2 keyword phrase last weekish and has been for a good month - Then caput...gone... no where. I've checked on alltheweb and I was ranking higher than ever in pos. 2. I have a PR of 6 for this one site with 411 incoming links according to ATW. Google now thinks I've only got 60 odd links coming in and most of them are because of my own page linking. Has google stopped counting links with PR4 or less altogher now as suggested in another post?

So now more oddness...When I look at my PR according to the google directory I appear to only have a PR of 3. Which would be consistent with my ranking of NOWHERE. Which do I believe, directory or tool bar?

I don't really link to any of my incoming links - I was thinking if I did google would know where to look to see them. Has anyone played around with this?

Many thanks

EDIT 1: I think I must have missed the post about googles new algo.
After looking into my problem I can now see that google has changed the way at which it defines a good incoming link by only using PR4 and above. Thats why all my sub pages show up as good links as there all PR5. Most of my incoming links are from customers personal sites with low PR. I guess it was just their way of controlling the exponential growth of PR. I guess its back onto adwords and looking for PR4+ links pages. They sure know how to get money out of ya.

Links that are PR3 and under will still help your PR thought, I think?

PR4 backlinks have been the only ones to show for some time. I can assure you than PR0 backlinks are still counted, though.

A point to make about backlinks is that it's not the quantity, it's the quality that helps most.
