Sitemap Question

I have two websites on two domains. One of them has 7 internal pages but only 1 is indexed. Is a sitemap for the entire domain or do I need to submit a sitemap for each page? Also, Do I need to create meta tags for each page or just the index page? It's probably a stupid question but I'm just getting back into web authoring after a long break and MANY changes.

You need to add title/description etc tags on all pages.

And create one sitemap and include all URLs in it. However, submission of a sitemap does not guarantee that any/all pages will get indexed.

Google's information on the Sitemaps protocol: Sitemaps

Description and keywords meta tags are added to each page. They need to be different for each page. Meta Tags - HTML Meta Tags Note: Even though Google does not mention the keywords meta tag in their meta tags information, "other" search engines use this tag.

Google also recommends having a traditional site map.

Offer a site map to your users with links that point to the important parts of your site. If the site map is larger than 100 or so links, you may want to break the site map into separate pages.

In my own experiences, sitemap might be helpful for your sites to be indexed more deeply and thoroughly but would not guarantee. Of course, unique meta tags, especially description tags, are really helpful for ranking purpose.

Have a nice day,

Basically you have to just create xml sitemap for all the links of the website then submit that xml file into Google with the help of webmaster tool account.
Another important thing you can create unique meta tags for different web pages of the website.

Try to deeplink your page from external site, it might incentivized google to index that particular page.

Google doesn't care for the meta keywords, they don't use them. Focus on the meta description as that is what your visitors may or may not see.

What about the "other" search engine and directory bots? Don't you want to get listed everywhere?

Better to add sitemap for your complete sitemap. Also you should not concentrate more on meta tags and all as they are not considered much these days.

Choose keywords and start building links. THis will help you to get indexed and get backlinks.

It will be good if you make a sitemap for your entire domain.

And about meta description It will be better to make meta tag for each page.

Smile

U need to put title and description metatags in every of the webspages. It is necessary for the better indexing. Then we need to build a sitemap for it and submit it into the search engines. Put all those links of the website into the sitemap. It'll help in better indexing and ranking.
