How to rebrand a site on google

My site www.thetwenty20cup.co.uk is number one on google.com for 98% off all important Twenty20 keywords, the one's which it isn't number one for aren't important.

Looking at the stats I think I have cleaned up Twenty20 Cricket on the web.

The next important step for my site is when the game starts to be played around the world, its already in England and South Africa but next January (2006) the format will be played in Australia, what started out as just a site for Twenty20 Cricket in England is now growing into a global site.

The Twenty20 Cricket site needs to evolve to stay number one, I need to re-brand the site so somebody searching in Australia will click on a .com site and probably wouldn't click on a .co.uk site.

Ive already got a dot com domain name and know I'm starting from scratch on google but my main question really is what is the best way to do it, well the right way really.

Will google penalize me if I set up the DNS setting so the dot com site points to www.thetwenty20cup.co.uk?

you can point the .com at the .co.uk site and it will not hurt you.

also there is no guarantee the .com version would rank any better, especially since you have a bunch of links pointing at the .co.uk site already

Im not a huge cricket fan, but Im fairly sure the 20x20 game has already taken off here in Aus.

There was a few Twenty20 exhibition games played in Australia last month including Aus A beating Pakistan, next year their will be a proper State Twenty20 Competition, I've been suprised by how well Twenty20 Cricket has taken off around the world.

The sucess has made me change the content of the site from the Twenty20 Cup in the UK to Twenty20 Cricket from around the world, next is Pro20 in South Africa, Twenty20 Cup in England then an unmamed competition in Pakistan in oct/nov and then this time next year Twenty20 in Oz.

I need to get a .com domain set up but Im wary of people linking to the .com and not .co.uk, over time this would create two highly powerful site like I have got now and not a super powerful one.

I may even just change the title decription so on google even in Austrilia people know its a worldwide site even though it is a .co.uk.

And dcristo, how can you be Austrilian and not like cricket? Its a law isn't it?
