Google or MSN?
Most of everone who has worked hard to capture their beloved ranking(s) in google have seen a huge drop in SERPS in google, and a rather sudden boost for msn.
I for one used to get 4000 hits from google per month, now i'm getting around 2000 ... whereas MSN was about 500 and now its shot up to 10,000+.
This gives rise to a couple of questions:
1) Do you think M$N is going to soon grab a neat slice of google's market share?
2) Would you ditch google and use M$N if its giving you much better results?
3) 'Although M$N needs to be fine-tuned, without a doubt it's results are much more relevant although lacking in quantity, they make up for this in quality' - Do you agree?
4) Is this the death of G and the Birth of M$ for the search engine market
5) Is google trying to diversify into new markets (Browser, Firefox, and others) to spreak the risk because - let's face it, their SERPS SUCK!
6) Does G stand for "garbage"?

I have noticed a huge increase in hits from MSN this month, ranking in the top few results for all my targeted keywords. I ranked well in Google a couple of days ago, but now seem to be ranking badly again.
Whatever the change, it has brought my uniques to 900 per day, so I'm happy...

1) Yes, I think they already have. And with the advertising Bill Gates promises, I think anything is possible, seeing as Microsoft alone caused the mean average income of the entire US to increase.
2) No, I like traffic from everywhere. And besides, if reports came out saying Google was loosing market share, I think they'd start listening to webmasters more. I mean in a way it's a self fulfilling prophecy. If people start saying MSN is getting more traffic and Google is losing market share, all the millions of webmasters will start using MSN more, and that alone will cause a loss in market share for Google.
3) Yes.
4) I dunno, I'm just a peon.
5) I think they are threatened by MSN, and if they lose market share to MSN on search they want to be able to compete in other areas as well, eg Browser, Op system, etc.
6) No..

Yeah, There's only 2 things that can really happen...
1) Google taking over the world
2) The world taking over Google
I am undecided ...

From both user and webmaster perspective, I'd like to see a diversified and balenced search engine market share - msn 25%, google 25%, yahoo 25% and other 25%.

Losing a couple of points in market share is hardly the end of the world, you act like its a bunch of monkees at Google and now that MS has a SE then Google is going to crumble. But then again, maybe Jesus told you Google was going to close their doors, who knows.

LOL. I know that the folks at google at are some of the smartest around. Lets just say I sometimes get these feelings about things even though they might not make sence and yet they come true.
I wonder myself why I am thinking this about google of all things b/c I love them as a search engine alone. I also think that they have the potential to take on M/S in just about anything there doing now. Even to myself I don’t understand why I am thinking this way
But I do know when I get these sorta things I better listen because usually they are right. Don’t ask me to explain it because I cant myself.

Google will fall
The only reason I think this is the average webmaster is getting no love from Google, They are only catering to ultra SEo'd sites and EDu's. The average guy is not going to list well in google and will start catering to other search engines and if enough webmasters get pissed at google and express it at their sites the users will start to follow. Google is self-destructing from their own algorythms. Google is making it to where you have to learn all this SEO links from other i.p. block crap just to get in the top 100. People are going to get tired of that **** soon.

Don't have time to address all these but,
MSN will keep gaining market share. They have a track record of doing it tiem and time again. Don't underestimate Bill.

1) Do you think M$N is going to soon grab a neat slice of google's market share?
Of course, Google is so far ahead they have a lot to grab.
2) Would you ditch google and use M$N if its giving you much better results?
Absolutely not!! I'm (you) are one person from billions.
3) 'Although M$N needs to be fine-tuned, without a doubt it's results are much more relevant although lacking in quantity, they make up for this in quality' - Do you agree?
Impossible to say. Only time and that World at large will tell.
4) Is this the death of G and the Birth of M$ for the search engine market.
Doubtful.
5) Is google trying to diversify into new markets (Browser, Firefox, and others) to spreak the risk because - let's face it, their SERPS SUCK!
Of course they are, any wiley business diversifies. While you say "let's face it, their SERPS SUCK!" it would appear those that count (that have no web pages and hence non-biased) dissagree.
6) Does G stand for "garbage"?
Ok, what page of your's is not ranking where you want?

When enough things are said often enough, something is likely to become true.
I can tell you one thing for a fact though, Google geeks and business sense will prevail over your "feelings".

So true! You need to rate SE without bias and most people here don’t and IMO this degrades the vale of this forum and its otherwise great members.

In regards to whether Google SERP really suck, you need to not listen to anyone here (as most are bias) and base the SERPs value on the SE with largest user base. This is Google by far! This can change, but that's not the case yet and I doubt it will be anytime soon.
With a something like 60 million searchers world-wide what is said here means very little indeed.

Think of keywords not in your sector eg: "hi fi reviews"
Now do a search on both MSN and Google in two browsers and compare results.
I find on average Google wins easily on the first ten results but the number one spot is sometimes better on MSN. The reason MSN looses on average is cos there is a lot of forum posts, blogs and new websites. When MSN tweaks its results it will be as good as Google just give MSN a chance.
Try it yourself.
