I'm seeing a lot of the same thing too ...many of the sites' we own, manage (or monitor) have been wiped out (in google's serps) apparently due to the common denominator of having site-wide (inbound) text links from other sites.
Most of the footer links have been in place for over 10 months with no harm done ...looks like Google's algo just changed ...between clients and ourselves in 48 hours we lost combined annual revenues of approx $445K.

You site is in Google! Is your site a directory or about something else? I would say, your link exchange scheme, has been sprung by Google and you now rank where you belong based on true links to you.

Google says I have 606 pages listed, but only shows 3 and those pages it says are "supplemental" even though they are not... It hit my Yahoo and MSN rankings as well... I went from #1 on MSN to #11... WTH is going on?

I believe the update is still going on. One of my sandboxed websites cannot even be found by the company name. It shows up on page 7, was #1 before.

Well, my backlinks just dropped to 37 from 50, however I added maybe 150 new inbound links... Go figure, and none of them were site wide.

Google has never, and probably never will, show all backlinks. It's a sample only based on who knows what.

I know it is easy for me to say this but don't worry about it. Your site will probably be back in a couple of days.

My site, since yesterday, is no longer appearing in the serps for my targetted keywords, whereas 3 days ago it was on page 1.
MSN and Yahoo still doing nicely

Stephen Bradley- My site was once ranked under the right keywords and positioned at 41, then disappeared. MSN is now ranking it at page one, so we are pretty much the same where Google and MSN are concerned! What are SERPs? I think it goes Search Engine... just don't know the R P bit.

SERPs = Search Engine Result Pages
That is the pages and results that are returned you see after you run a search.

Don't believe it's due to sidewide backlinks.
I am seeing a few sites with sitewide backlinks ranking very high in the SERPs.

I've noticed major serp changes in many different industries. For instance, the 6 million a year in revenue seoinc.com has lost many of its mainstay #1's, but is now a PR8 again.
I really don't believe the site-wide link penalty theory.
One of my sites.. which held a number 1 spot for 10 months on a 3 dollar per click overture keyword, is now #97, with absolutely no site-wides, shady linking or link buying ever done.
Conversely, another site of mine, went from 50+ to having 2 top 10's.. with some big site-wide exchanges done in the past month. This also made me an extra $500 this past weekend "thanks G**gle!"
And yet another example, I had a site go from a PR5 to a PR0; but traffic went from 40 uniques a day to roughly 1200 a day in less than a month!! And the increase was all from GG serps.
So the moral of the story is.. Diversify! Stop all the conspiracy theories and crazy no-evidence assumptions. The algos will continue to fluctuate and people will continue to guess. Just like the stock market, indexes will rise and fall. The people who make it through each cycle are the ones that diversify their portfolios in different industries.
Just my 2..

ahhh, now I see. This lazareth fella (his username yesterday) was really Dave Hawley, someone previously banned ...disgruntled, he apparently created another profile for the specific purpose of harassing members in V7n's forum.
...figures.

Excellent observation ...Stephen has described almost exactly the scenario here as well ...Google has had a major upheaval in her index ...with MSN and Yahoo! filling the roles for emergency backup traffic.
