Site Speed Tips for When Google Uses That as a Ranking Factor

I have been wondering about this for awhile now and here is some information along with a video to watch. This month i am going to work on one of my blogs since i think it's just coding errors that's slowing some of it down. Don't freak out right away till you watch the video.

Last year, Google's Matt Cutts dropped the bomb (to put it in the exaggerated tone that many took the news in), that Google was considering taking site speed into consideration as one of many potential ranking factors for search results.

Is your site's performance up to snuff? Comment here.

This of course freaked a lot of people out, but as Matt and Google as a whole has maintained, this would not trump relevance. It would be taken more into consideration when there are two sites of relatively equal relevance, but one site loads faster and delivers a better user experience. Matt reiterated this point in...

Does anyone have any comments about this? I don't think this is really important but it will keep visitors on your site longer if the site loads faster. Also one thing to remember is make sure your site works in all browsers.

This is something I did worry about and after we installed Kayako we noticed the script taking a while to load when you enter the page, so therefore our site speed decreased dramatically in Google Webmaster Tools.

After reading this article it has put my mind to rest about site speed!

PS the video made me laugh when he said "The answer is yes! someday!" lol I do doubt that

I had a ton of product images on my homepage originally, mostly for onsite optimization reasons. Once I realized that onsite should take a back seat to backlinking and offsite promotion I decided to significantly cut down on the number of images displaying on my homepage. I also redid my images to slightly lower quality. Since I did not properly name my images for SEO purposes this was something I had to do over anyways. It was nice to get the image names optimized and I immediately noticed my site speed improve.

Speed of the websites has always been an important issue among the experienced webmasters and even regardless of the search rankings, when people arrive on some pages which take long time to load, they would leave.

Thanks for your nice sharing.

It is really right that the compatibility of your site is a more important issue. I think this factor might not weight a lot though a fast page loading would give your visitors a better experience. But, what is more important is the on page contents, IMO.

Thanks,

A lot of the measures employed to optimize page loading speed are good design practices anyway, so using them would be beneficial.
