CRY! My PR has dropped from 6 to 5
Do we freqently see PR movement prior to a big database update? I ask because today I noticed that my site
www.aquariumadvice.com has a PR of 5 now where as it used to carry a PR of 6. Also if you go to www.aquariumadvice.com/index.php that page itself had a PR of 5 but now has a PR of 4.

Hmm. Well, I see a lot of sites dropping PR, so it might just be a relatively wide PR-drop.

My two smaller sites have dropped PR from 6 to 5, but frankly I took most of their backlinks away some time ago, and surprised the PR lasted that long.
PR is certainly a relative issue, and borderline sites can go up and down every other update. Loss of backlinks is a common explanation though - not least if backlinking sites lose PR, and thus backlinks are affected.
See what happens at the next update, though - Google was a little severe in its behaviour recently.

Whats confusing is that two URL's on my site both dropped 1 pr score. If it was a result of backlinks dropping then i would have expted the .com/ url to drop off before the com/index.php url as I personally have never put any backlings to the index.php file.

Don't worry too much about dropping a Toolbar PR point. If a page was only just over the PR6 boundary, it may have dipped to just under it - not much of a change.
Don't forget that, as Google's index gets larger, the PR boundaries must move and some pages will drop a point for no 'apparent' reason.

Btw - fishfreak - to conserve PR you really need to look at using either the
/
OR
/index.php
as your main site URL. OTherwise your PR is split between both URLs - and Google sees them as entirely different.
I'm sure John or Phil have an article banging around about it - something to watch out for if you're concerned with PR.
