My home page hasn't been indexed by google?

Hi,

I submitted my site to google (www.gopeds-online.co.uk) over a week ago.
It indexed my site within 2 or so days, and it has updated it a few times.

It has indexed every page on my site except the home page? Do you know why this could be happening?

The file for my home page isan't called index.htm instead its called home.htm --- would this make a difference?

Thanks!

Jon

Do you mean that it has spidered every page except the home page? "Indexed" means to be included in the index. I can't see any of the site's pages in the index. Pateience is required for that.

If you mean "spidered", patience again. There's no reason for the page not to be spidered. But what's that "freestuff" URL about - take a look at it.

Google's pattern of indexing is to send a spider to note the index page and add that briefly to the search engine index (usualyl for a couple of days before the site is dropped again).

Then anywhere up to around 4-8 weeks Google will send in other spiders to indexing most of your other links from that index page.

After 8 weeks you should be well established in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) - but be warned that new pages can have their ranking artificially boosted for a few weeks. The trick is to try and maintain rankings through good use of SEO.

Hi,

I have just added modifications to my PHPbb forum's sessions page so that google doesnt encounter Sid's when it attempts a crawl...does this mean that it might now take google say 4 weeks to spider my entire forum? I made the changes on Tuesday and I noticed Google has updated the forum index since then but not spidered the rest of the site so do you think this is OK and it will in time spider the whole site? I'm pretty sure I have removed the SID's correctly as you have done with this PHPbb because when I look at the forum as a guest there is no sid in the link until I log in as a registered user. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

If googlebot doesn't encounter session IDs, it'll gooble up the pages in time. Patience is all you need.
