Index page lower PR than the rest

Hi,

on one of my websites the PR of the homepage is lower than the PR of the subpages. Why, I checked and my linkpartner are linking to the index page.

Not sure if your issue, but Google will see .com and com/index.html as 2 different pages. Your host should be able to set this up so they are both seen as one and the same.

Hi,

with subpages I mean something like mydomain.com/topic.htm and index or homepage would be mydomain.com/index.htm

Yes, but was is the PR of just http://www.mydomain.com VS http://www.mydomain.com/index.htm ? I'm guessing the former is higher.

Its best not to link to http://www.mydomain.com/index.htm from anywhere. Simply link to "/" on your internal pages.

Well since this guys banned I guess I'll say it to myself. It depends how many links you got pointing to the www. or the one without a big difference will show a higher pagerank for the url with the most links.

Ive seen this on domains that were up as one type of site, then sold and a new site put in its place. Its as if Google keeps the old homepage PR the same (and any other pages with the same name) but if you add new pages then those pages will be the 'real' PR if you will.
