Directories.exe???

Someone sent me a "free ebook" with directory listings.

The file was "directories.exe" which was permanently blocked by hotmail.

He said that it was an executable ebook...

Has anyone heard of an executable ebook?

Just curious...

It's possible to have a self extracting zip file. But I'll bet 99.9% that that was not what it was.

Nerver run executables that you receive over email, not even from people you know. You may want to run some virus scans you almost certainly just installed one.

Why would you post this question here? You know it was I who sent it from my own email address to you ...if you had problems getting it, why didn't you write or call me ...the sender?

The ebook was my own creation and I sent it to you as a favor ...after I had tutored you for two days on your website project and you needed a list of free directories.

Some free email programs (like hotmail) may block a .exe ...classifying it as spam, a virus, etc.

If you would have written, I would have uploaded it to one of my servers for you to download directly.

Don't count on it now ...jeesh, try to do someone a favor ...I should have known better.

Hotmail permanently blocked the attachment as a VIRUS, so I was somewhat taken by surprise! I didn't think that you would try to send me a virus since you've been so helpful. But then again, it doesn't hurt to ask people a lot more knowledgable than me about .exe ebooks does it?

I've never downloaded an ebook, so I was unaware that they came in .exe format. I just wanted to make sure that it was safe to download before I emailed you again to ask you for the file by another method other than hotmail.

I didn't mean to upset you, and I really do appreciate all of your helpful advice. I was really looking forward to reading your ebook, but I just wanted to make sure that the file was legit. I hope you understand where I'm coming from.

I hope that you will still consider sending me the ebook.

Again, I apologize if I have offended you... it really was not my intention.

okay, okay already ...I accept your apology ...to answer your question though, actually it would have been best to contact me personally with your concerns ...I'm a businessman, a successful one ...I didn't arrive at this point by being unscrupulous, nor by emailing viruses to people.

...anyway, I'll send the download particulars via your email.
