The news this March from Google is that Caffeine is NOT live. In an interview at SMXWest Matt Cutts explained why it didn't roll out after the holidays as hinted in Novmber.

"It's just a nice thing to be cautious, Cutts told Mike McDonald of WebProNews. "You don't want to just roll out stuff willy-nilly when it's a very large rewrite of your indexing infrastructure So, there's nothing that's gone wrong, everything is still on track."

Cutts predicted Caffeine will out in the "next weeks and months" and he made a personal guess that the next data center would be European.

Matt also emphasized that while Google is considering "site speed as a signal" that is not at all related to Caffeine.

"Caffeine is completely independent of the fact that we're looking at the potential of having site speed as a signal," Cutts said.

Webmasters shouldn't stress out about site speed, he said. "The reason is that we are always going to care first and foremost about quality. How good is a page for users, how much does it help them find the information that they needed? Only in cases where it's like roughly the same quality of content page but this one's a lot faster or this one's a lot slower, those are the situations where it might make a difference."

From my experience, Google PR is updated every 3 months, quarterly, so having that in mind, PR is expected really soon.

Hi fendysanchez!

Only Google knows that answer, but you can understand better about how it all works here: www.mattcutts.com/blog/whats-an-update/

I believe that Google do generally update every 3 months or so but if i remember rightly, the last 18 months they fooled us and did a couple about 4 months and then once, i believe they did 2 updates in 2 months.

I may be wrong, but i seem to remember this.

Having said that, Google will update when they want to and remember that the PR reflects what it was BEFORE the update. I have been led to believe that the real PR, although not displayed in the bar, is an ongoing adjusted calculation.

Not being very astute in this field, Im certainly open to correction if im wrong

Yes, though we do refer to the push of new toolbar PageRank data as an update no matter which direction the wind blows.

What are the factors why Google decrease the PR of a website?

PageRank flows to a site through links, so if links have been deleted, or the PageRank of a site's backlinks has decreased, the PR of a site will decrease.
