Did you read any of this thread? Is it about the glory of Google?

Or, is it about Google's behavior?

While there are other search engines, imagine your internet without Google, all in one simplicity and integration goes out the window. Googles evil is nothing more than those who wish they were in its place.
Guess you either didn't read this thread, or cling to the morally bankrupt notion that the ends justify the means.

I've heard this statement a thousand times. Then once we get the members URL to look at the site, we find things wrong that actually got the site banned since the webmaster never kept up to date with Googles algorithm changes nor read there webmaster guidelines.

Don't worry, the FTC will get google, in fact Google is having problems over in Europe right now.

To the contrary, Google does have a formal procedure for such.

See Webmaster Tools: Reconsideration requests.

And, if you were truly banned - your site is not found on a search for the Domain Name itself - I'm betting that you got a notice of such telling why you got slapped.

The Google Panda Patent?

I said to myself, what the heck, this belongs in the evil thread. lol

Quote:
Google was granted a patent today that could be used to collect a seed set of data about features associated with different types of mushrooms, to “determine whether a specimen is poisonous based on predetermined features of the specimen.” The patent also describes how that process could be used to help filter email spam based upon the features found within the email, or to determine whether images on a page are advertisements, or to determine categories of pages on the Web on the basis of textual features within those pages. The image below, from the patent shows how features about a picture such as height, width, placement on a page, caption, and so on might be examined while determining whether or not it is an advertisement:

I hope so, could definitely do with less spam. The problem really even with email ad campaigns is that, people receive so many emails these days that anything that is not relevant often gets ignored.

true. If they opted in for offers and the like, it should help. Its when you get an email for something you've never been interested in or opted into that usually gets the boot. (well for me anyway).

They're controlling most of the resources on the net which somehow make them look evil not giving their competitors a chance but that's how it is in the world of business.

The petition counts:
  • Thank Google for supporting Freedom of Speech - 8 signatures since February 28, 2012
  • Google: Don't Sponsor Bigotry - 115,362 signatures since February 28, 2012

Enough said.

The truth is that both sides are not always correct, and that some just can't/won't accept facts which do not well comport with their desired conclusions.

In this case, the supporters of the first petition doomed it to failure by arrogantly portraying the issue as being one of libertarians vs liberals, being less than complete and truthful, and engaging in argumentum ad hominem against the latter .

The petition results speak for themselves.

Assuming that such changes were not designed to favor certain individuals favored by Google, but give all an equal opportunity to compete, how is such evil?
