Google's relevancy
I'm one of those people that often searches for a site name to navigate my way to the site, as opposed to typing the url in the address bar. More and more I find Google missing the boat; I've been using Yahoo instead and am quite happy with it.
Within the last 24 hours, I've searched for "biz-directory", only to find that biz-directory.org isn't in the first page of results; and I've searched for "seo guy" to find that seo-guy.clm isn't in the first page.
Google appears to be losing relevancy at a respectable pace. As a surfer, I can't say I'm happy with Google at all. Yahoo, on the other hand, is entirely spot-on.

I still use Google but what you say is true. I do the same thing (type the name into the SE bar).
Luckily my sites have not been affected. My company names are always my biggest referring term (10-16% of all SE referrals).
I would be steamin' if I wasn't #1 (2 and 3 ) !
Even what happened to awall19 is pretty bad.

google has been getting on my nervs lately too. mostly because they are excluding so many 'quality' page (IMO) from the SERPs. MSN and Yahoo have a much better variety of results and I predict many people will start switching over (especially to MSN with all the new TV ads and publicity running)

I remember a couple weeks ago when "paypal" brought up everything but paypal.com. Just really lame relevancy. They appear more infatuated with their own filters than with relevancy, and it really annoys me as a surfer. Pretty much using Yahoo full time now.

You're not alone, John. People have been using msn and Y! much more lately.
Combined, they account for 30% of the SE referrals I get. That's up from about 22% in November 04.

it's funny but it's true
I agree with google losing it's relevancy in it's fear of being outsmarted by a few savvy seo pros. It's funny how things can change so quickly. It used to be the other way around, but yahoo provides so much more relevant results than google. I used to love google, but their results are poor lately.

Even thought I'm very unhappy with Google right now and use Yahoo when I think about, it's so ingrained in me, I just go to it by default. I think quiting Google may be as tough as when I quit smoking! Of course I'm still holding out hope that they get everything straightened out.

I have few terms sitting on same spots in Yahoo, Google and MSN related to travel. Its been not surprising for me that percentage of traffic from Google is going down and while from yahoo and msn is constantly moving up.

Weird how the degrading of Google results happened during the MSN launch! Hmmmm…
Give G another chance they well strike back.

Johan,
Are you suggesting that MSN had something to do with Google's relevancy degredation? I'm usually the first to blame Microsoft, but I'm not sure how they could be at fault here.
