Google and PHP?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi,

I have submitted my site, http://www.guitarresources.net , to google and it has scanned it. But the strange thing is that their spider doesn't seem to have scanned all the pages on the site (and i did put a follow command in the META). Can it be caused because google can't scan my pages that have a query string following the .php?

i would really like to know what is causing this

Thanks for your help

DragonEye

DragonEye,

I just had a quick check on your website, most of the url's are indexable but I found also this url: http://www.guitarresources.net/searc...&firstletter=J

The ? and the & are not liked by google, a mod_rewrite to e.g.: searchdb-songs-J.html would be better for google.

greetings,

Bart

Google is perfectly happy with dynamic URLs that include the ? and & characters. The only dynamic URLs that it doesn't like are those with long numbers in them because Google won't spider URLs that contain session IDs.

Google is slower in trusting contentment after the ? but as long as you link via href on the page Google will like it and treat it is as valuable. Pages on this forum get spidered.

People don’t link to Session ID’s using href on the page now do they and if they did the url is often too long to be considered and so is not an issue unless you intend to spam.

It;s not slower in trusting - the Google website simply staets that they don;t want to overload the server.

As for dynamic URLs - the URL element to be really wary of is "id=" by itself.

As for Google indexing - yes, and your site will drop from the idnex again over the next few days. Then over the following couple of weeks your site will be more thoroughly indexed. The first stable results will show on google after about 4-6 weeks.

In my experiance of 4 websites "?ID=" has never been a problem. The two sites still live are www.eurocarsbushey.com and www.futuremovies.co.uk

Sure Google guy echo what I, Brian said but that was a long time ago.

Humm,

this link is indexed very well: http://www.luchtzak.be/gate.html?name=Web_Links but I think when it's more than 2 ='es like www.site.xx/mode=I&forums=8&g=xxff will not be indexed...

http://www.inncontrol-marketplace.co...egory_Code=ims

That URL has 3 name/value pairs and was ranked for "internet marketing", albeit at 574, but indexed and ranked just the same

well,

Google seems to have scanned all the other pages in the last few days. Everything seems to be indexed now, and hits are coming from google sites from around the world.
