Looking for tool to verify Hilltop theory

I've been reading some analysis of the Hilltop expert theory. Does anyone know of a tool, or can write one if it doesn't exist, that compares backlinks for different websites and provides a list of matches? If we had this tool, we could analyze the results for "expert" trends, and also identify expert sites for further analysis of how they gained their expert status.

I'm not exactly sure if I totally understand what your saying, but I think I know what your talking about. I've been thinking recently it would be nice if there was a program that you could enter a URL (a URL that ranks higher than your own website in search results) and it would compare and count the backlinks and the anchor text used in each of the backlinks. You would then be able to see exacly how many backlinks (with specific anchor text) you would need in order to rank higher than the other site.

Does something like this exist? If not, I think it would be a great tool!

Although I'll certainly reckon on Hilltop being a significant part of it all, the SERPs are still dynamic, and therefore I expect that the algo is still being very significantly tweaked. Any results today could be irrelevant tomorrow. IT's not so much that exact figures are needed, as much as clear trends. Hilltop seems to be one - though the possibility of an SEO filter or LocalRank modifier still have the juries out - IMO.
