Google Instant Search suggestion for " why" is why can't i own a canadian.
Great question, one that many would like to have answered.
See why can't i own a canadian for the answer.

Excellent analysis of the impact of Google Instant from SEW:
Google Instant - Ten Things Marketing Teams Need To Know:
I pulled a couple of paragraphs on using web analytics to track Google Instant behavior for today's SEO Tip of the Day, but there are 9 other points well worth perusing if this topic truly interests you.

Oh. Hm. Good point. Guess that would fit under the heading of "We just want to serve the user."

Glad to see that most of us feel that it won't effect the SEO. Although being number one in Google for SEO Seattle may be open to seeing a few searchers diverted for the search term SEO. HMMMMMM... I guess we will have to rank for that as well.

I know Google instant is just a feature for users of Google ans its not a cause for worrying webmasters about their ranking. No parameters have been changed in Google instant for ranking results as i know.

Livesearch was launched on May 6, 2006 by Yahoo at its AllTheWeb domain
I was just watching this movie. It says Livesearch was launched on May 6, 2006 by Yahoo at its AllTheWeb domain. It was an experiment in returning results in real time as you type, without the need to ever click the Search button or hit Enter. In fact, there is was no Search button. Livesearch was decommissioned in the fall of 2007 for unknown reasons.

Well, if it was a slow to respond as Instant Search is, I'm surprised that it lasted as long as it did.
With Instant Search, I can literally count the seconds before it responds to a single key stroke.

Some similar data collected in the UK are presented at http://www.mecmanchester.co.uk/blog/...r-12-days.html .
Note: These describe organic results only; PPC data could conceivable show a significant excursion from pre-Instant Search norms.

Might it not also distract some users from their initial goal?

Which Words Does Google Instant Blacklist?
Just a little more information on Google Instant.
Quote:
Some folks at the Hacker publication 2600 decided to compile a list of words that are restricted by Google Instant.
Except in extreme and special cases, Google is known for anything but censorship, but as we’ve said before, there are some terms the web giant’s new instant search feature won’t work with.
We understand Google’s intentions; the team over there is trying to make sure that no one sees pornographic or violent results they might fight disturbing unless they really mean to search for them. When asked about this feature a few weeks ago, Google’s Johanna Wright said the restrictions are in place to protect children.
But Google has opened itself up to a potential PR problem, because...

Your thoughts on this? Google is always having a PR problem these days and Google Instant is already stirring up the pot.
