Question Adsence, Language issues, showing the adequate ads

Dear colleagues,

http://www.conference.ge is my site in Georgian (mostly). There are some stuff in English, but the major part is in Georgian.

My problem is, that I want to have ads about business conferences, business ethics and the related stuff ... but invain, google provides some kind of unrelated ads on the site.

What are the tools for making google show the related ads (if exist)?

You should know that probably we don't get 20% of the revenues that Google generates from the ads on our sites. Therefore it is in their best interest to have the CTR as high as possible. But when there are no related ads then they start to display unrelated ads.

I think if no relevant ads are displayed that means that there simply is no relevant ad available.

maybe try another advertising network or search partners that offer affiliate opportunities

well,

It might be the case that there are no relevant ads. I suppose there are very few ads of Georgian origin companies which might appear on my site.

But google says that it analyses the site and deliveres the ad depending on the content. That means that google should analyse the Georgian text and deliver the respective ad? Is that based only on the geograohic characteristics only?

Will it work if I put several keywords on the website which might be take into consideration by google and deliver the keyword adequate ads?

that could work,

But you should check the Terms of Service
I am not sure if you are allowed to manipulate the system into showing ads that do not match the site according to their system.

not sure though

Georgian isn't an Adsense supported language so it won't be able to read most of the page to determine what it's about so it's relying almost entirely on the little bits of English and possibly the meta tags.

This page gives the list of currently supported languages.

Another thing to remember is that different countries will see different adverts. Theres something called the Google Adsense Preview Tool
which appears in IE's right click menu and lets you see what ad's other countries will see. For example I'm getting a lot of "Tbilisi Flights" type adverts.

What appears will heavily depend on available adverts and it's possible that Georgian isn't available in Adwords. Plus Adsense always tries to find the highest paying adverts available so even if they are there, these will be paying more.

With regards changing things - as DragonEye mentioned it's against Adsense T&C to go altering things purely for Adsense, but that could be interpreted a few ways...

Thanx Trev

You mentioned the meta tags ...
This is "probably" or ...?
Because I do not see any similarity between ads and with what I have in meta description ...

You got interesting tips in there ...

I suspect it's picking up things like "tourism" and "georgian" in there and if anyone has sponsored words like and such then it'll consider that a match although probably not a very relevent match so they won't pay you much for it.

Another thing I'd do is move the Adsense to the top of the page, and make it blend a bit better. An example would be http://www.aardvarkbusiness.net/chat/ although I don't think the ads appear on the front forum page. They don't make a fortune, but they should make a little bit.

I gave up on gooogles adsense. I have not been able to have 3 blocks of ads on my hiv site for a month. The deeper pages show 3 ads but not the front page. I emailed them several times and kept getting scripted responses. So I went with someone else.

well,
I think it is better to give something better to pick up ... than only "tourism" and "Georgian"

Do you think that repositioning of a ad block to the top will make sence?

I think you need to move the ads just so there's a chance of someone seeing them as currently they'd have to go right to the bottom of the page to see them.

That really matters?

If the ad is displayed so that it is seen on the screen without scrolling?

If I were going through the board, I wouldn't normally scroll past either the bottom of the list of topics/forums or the bottom of a post so wouldn't know about the Adsense. Whereas if you put that at the top then many more people would see it.
