Google Crawling via an Old Sitemap.xml ?!

Sitemaps - Google Crawling an Old Sitemap.xml ?!

Hey all, last night Google crawled about 350 pages of one of my hatching sites based on a three-week old sitemap.

I wouldn't be too upset about this except for the fact that I have submitted (and Google has downloaded) two other more updated sitemaps since then and my navigation/URLs have changed.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you resolve it? Did google index those sites?

In fact, Google's been going at it for the past 3 hours - using the same IP address - and all those pages seem to be jumping to PR2 (which is cool). But, the problem is that i've been using different URLs since I discovered mod_rewrite....any thoughts?

Why not just update the sitemap.xml file with the new links?
Also redirect the old links if possible to the new links with mod_rewrite rules.

Have you removed the old sitemap from the sitemap thingy on Google? Otherwise it'll just keep recrawling it.

When you update the <url> list within sitemap.xml, Googlebot will automatically see the changes.

You should not have more than one sitemap.xml file for the same url list.

Also, if you only have one sitemap file, you don't have to delete it and reload it. Just update the contents of the file and click "resubmit".

(I don't think you even need to "resubmit").
