Keyword stuffing is usually bad. But you have to put many synonims in your description tag & in your pages too. Keyword tag words must be found inside your text. Many keywords on description, title, and keyword tag end's up ... into deviding your points into many words! Use only the words that can bring you traffic. Don't use useless words.

Actually Sam it is not recommended, but as you can see on Google organic search, stuffing seem ok, stuffing a lot is ok, and extreme stuffing is ok, now for how long, I don't know. Duplicating contents with changing titles and urls seems to work too in Google.
Personally I will not recommend that, but a lot of webmasters are doing that.

As per my knowledge it is treated as black hat seo technique. If it is implemented there are chances that site get penalized. Here is the link which provides a complete detail regarding it "pmnova.com/blog/2010/10/10/black-hat-seo-method-keyword-stuffing/"

There was a time when Keyword Stuffing was considered as black hat or a white hat technique depending on context of the technique and also depending on the person judging it. However now it is only considered as block hat. Even Google no longer gives good rankings to the pages which are implementing this technique.

A very risky practice......how much is too much?
If you get pushed down in SERP...you will have to figure out what is over the line and then try to fix it...
Just not worth it...

Hello friend,
Google doesn't like keyword stuffing. If keyword stuffing detects on a web page that page will be banned from google's index.

Currently, Google does not penalize for keyword stuffing. But, in last few years, many sites whose main technique was 'keywording', are slowly sinking from the Top10 SERPs for their keywords. Moreover, comparing SERPs five years ago with current SERPs, I notice that the overall look of snippets in Top1 got much better - no stuffed snippets anymore.
All this can lead to a conclusion that Google is working on this issue, which means - stuffing is not a technique with a good perspective.

Google and other search engines assign a keyword stuffing penalty to sites that over-optimize. Because if they didn’t, every website would simply try to include their keyword as much possible – much to the dismay of their readership!

Keyword density which is recommended is from 3 to 5 percent! This helps your page to get optimized well and achieve your market targets faster........

Keyword stuffing comes under black hat seo category.
So it is something that you should definitely avoid.

Keyword stuffing is the Black hat SEO technique in which people use keywords again and again into the Title tag keyword tag and into the content of the website to put the more focus on this particular keyword. Google consider it as a crime and found a website using this website then definitely Google punish the website in terms of ranking factor.

What is the use of Keyword Stuffing?
Check those sites getting good keyword rankings with stuffing the keywords in the web pages. All you have to do is - Be natural while writing the content and also include your targeted keywords / phrases in it. But don't overdo it. Its just have no Use.

I agree. Keyword stuffing also makes your content look bad and readers do not enjoy reading them!

Google readily admits that it prefers content that is written for readers first and search engines second. A bunch of keyword-stuffed nonsense does nothing for the reader; it doesn't give them any useful information. Plus, if the stuffing is bad enough, it can look like you're trying to manipulate the search engine rankings. So, a site that's stuffed with keywords is not going to rank nearly as high as a site that's properly optimized - with keywords naturally integrated into the content.

I agree with you Nicole, most search engine guidelines will say that, but that is not what they do. In fact stuffing appear to be a new standard these days like doorway sites

Keyword stuffing is not advisable at all. It is one of the techniques of Black Hat SEO. You have to maintain keyword density which should be up to 5% for better optimization of the page. Keyword Stuffing affects your search results and your site might be banned if it is caught by Search Engines.

If you use your keywords in the right places, there is no need for stuffing,
Optimum places for your keyword
1) TLD
2) Site Title
3) Article Title
4) First Paragraph
5) Last Paragraph
6) In a natural content throughout the rest of your article
Keyword density should not exceed 5%
