well yes, it seems pr update is in full swing

I got 1 site jumping from PR2 to PR4 another the other way around ... and all data is missing in webmaster tools ... it's ongoing!

Not sure about a full swing. There were some murmurs about a PR update in September, but not enough to appear to be a full update. I haven't seen any major changes on my sites, but I have to say I don't really track it. Don't get me wrong, I think actual PageRank is important, but the toolbar is so outdated that I can't get too excited.

well, we work for a lot of people with new sites, and it's damn hard to get links for them as long the PR doesn't show ... whatever they say ... nobody wants to link to a PR non-available site ...

but ok, I have enough sites myself to see what's going on; PR update is in full swing - very obviously ...

Could be, but I don't see people talking about it on other forums, either. It's usually a pretty hot topic.

A cached page should be good enough for a link exchange; indeed, I don't see many link pages with any PR at all. But a cached page means that Google is seeing the link.

Haven't seen much discussion regarding an update either; I have noticed an increase in Gbots activity on my sites; much deeper and more frequent - almost feverishly. Wonder what's up for the holidays?

As far as cached pages go, I'd like to think that the page being indexed is good enough; I know of many pages that are not cached that show up as links. They are indexed, though.

haven't seen much discussion either, but maybe we should change th topic then, as something is going on and if it's not a pagerank update, then what is it?

but ok, it's not that important, maybe that's why nobody is talking about it ... it has been 5 months since the last update ... maybe people forgot about it, or just don't want to get their hopes up for nothing ...

anyway, you didn't see any movements then?

I see people asking on other forums if there will be one soon, so the topic hasn't fallen off the radar ...

and I see this post: http://googlepagerank.keywordresearc...agerank-update ... but until I see it on my sites or I hear a lot of people moaning or happy dancing, I remain skeptical.

For example, we should be seeing blog or forum posts like this: http://www.pliggs.com/google-pagerank-update/ ... I see one poster in September on DP, none on webmasterworld or WPW ...

Ah, I did find a couple more in Oct on DP. Clearly there are a few people saying they got a rise ... but very few.

I don't see a change on any sites I track.

well, I don't doubt your observations, but I don't doubt my own either; I got 4 sites changing PR, also for sub-pages, and a lot from PR1 to PR4 etc.

also; did anybody notice the changes for local search? the map is on the right now and the listings look more as other regular listings ...

so, maybe it's another type of update going on, but something is going on, that's for sure

I hope there's somebody here who likes to take some guesses instead of just ignoring it

my guess; last PR-update in July something went wrong and they stopped it, that's why it has been so long, now they're having a hard time to fix it ...

I have seen many pages go from N/A to PR0 since July, and they're pages on sites that would normally show something significant. I've also seen an increase in Gbot activity.

So based on some similarities from days gone by, I'll guess that we won't see an across the board toolbar export until mid to late December.

Most of my sites are UK, so no changes there, as we are always about a week behind everyone across the pond. I do have a few sites on US servers though, a few of these had an update about a month ago, but nothing in the last few days from what I can see, although I do only look at the HP TBPR anyway.

That's what I look for in a directory listing. I want to see a cached page before I submit.

I don't see what that has to do with this thread?!

It addresses a problem mentioned by another member earlier in the thread regarding the difficulty they're experiencing obtaining links since toolbar PR hasn't been pushed for some time.

Is Google being evil by not updating PR on the regular basis that it used to? After all, it is responsible for the advent of PR, it displays PR, it acknowledges that PR does still play some part in the serps valuation of sites.

Does Google want to have all of the revenue from link sales themselves via Google Adwords?
