Google vs Yahoo
I know this is old news, but why did Google need to lower the PageRank of Yahoo? That just seems so childish.

Devaluating the competition maybe? Power corrupts, that's nothing new and they entered the sharks game while ago.

I believe it was at the request of Brett Tabke.
Well, that and Yahoo Mike stuck Matt Cutts with the lunch bill... I tried to warn him but those Yahoo people are just so damn certain they're right.

That explains it. Didn't know about that lunch bill, they're lucky to have dropped only one point.

I am postive that Google does not adjust PR just because ....
The PR is a reflection of incoming links.
I noticed that now the top link/banner "Yahoo" that pointes to homepage now has bunch of query string parameters and google could have decided not spider them hence do not count toward PR of yahoo's homepage.

Yahoo was PR10 forever, and with more links than Google. Then all of the sudden Google dropped Yahoo's PR, several months after Yahoo stopped using Google for search.

Google also dropped the BL for yahoo in a quite childish way, when you compare them with their own BL now, it's a joke.

Minstrel. I know you like to give Google the benefit of the doubt, but don't you see that as a little odd?

Yahoo still gets more traffic than Google - last I checked it was double, or close.

I don't know how to put it, but there seems to be a certain evilness to Google...

It tells me you made a bad decision when you skipped that class on punctuation

But that's un-possible... their motto is "Do no evil".
Besides, I've been in the top 5 on Google for about 4 years now. Obviously, they know what they're doing.

I agree, John... Google has designs on the whole damned internet. They intend to take over as much as they can. They are going for a stranglehold - period. The bible would refer to them as "planners of iniquity". Seriously, they are up to no good. Every cell in my body feels it.
I think their aggressive strategy will, eventually, do them more harm than good, though. A lot of people are already fed up and that number grows daily. I think old Bill in Seattle will soon capitalize on this, to an extent, and yahoo definitely will, with their adsense clone. But, Bill can make the most change the quickest. The concept of paying users to search will turn the whole search engine industry on it's head. And maybe I can be a little less annoyed with him after that.
