OK traffic without poo google :)

Ok I have this question as google realy don’t like me infact I think they have it in for be big time, well anyhow here is my question

Is it only google were you can receive a mass amount of traffic I mean there are people that own websites tht I have never heard of that are getting something like 10,000 hits a day to there site but there not even ranking high in google

Some people have told me that submitting to stuff like

Directorys
Press realese (I do)
Articles (lol I think these are the same as press releases but apparently not)
Blogs (haha don’t know how to write one)

Well what it is I am getting about 200-300 hits to my site some times less some times more my other site gets loads but that’s cos its ranking high

So what my main question is, Is there any other way to get a good high flow of traffic to my site without ranking high in google? (or buying traffic I don’t buy traffic)

Has any one got any tips on this matter

It really depends on industry. For porno industy 10,000 hits a day it's norm. They will have on sale from it though. For decent E-Commerce site ( like mine ) 2,000 a day is a norm.

The difference in quality of trafic. All those 10000 came from pop-ups, email spam....

so there really isnt any over clever way to get real traffic to sites that isnt spamming or something nasty like that

There are a lot of ways to get loads of high quality traffic without relying on Google... the best two that work for me are:

YAHOO
MSN

Seriously, they are much quicker to update their index and include you into the SERPs. In Google it might take me months to penetrate the top 1000 because of their crazy filters, but Yahoo and MSN (and others) will include me and rank me in days/weeks. Even if it's position 200 it doesn't matter, as long as the ball is rolling.

On a side note, I feel directory submissions are a good way to drive traffic and links.

Google is your best bet for SE traffic.

But SE traffic is not all that! Drew Curtis' FARK.com gets traffic (10,000,000 page views per week) becuase it is good site with a large user base.

You can get quite a lot of traffic from Yahoo & MSN depending on the subject of your site. It is also quicker to rise to the top than at Google.

I am ranking at top places in yahoo and msn for my computer and i get some good traffic from them just not a mass amount that i want i get about 1500-2000+ from all over not just msn and yahoo

i think my panic is over now lol i seem to becoming back in google but i could be wrong hehe WOW i hate google there so frustrating

If you are looking for shopping, fun, and entertainment related traffic I think Yahoo and MSN are much better. The "entertainment" and "house wife" factor from those 2 SE is much higher. Part of that is the way how their homepages are setup. MSN and Yahoo are more the portal type style websites.

First let me apologize for such a long post but I am in the same dilemma as you with my CD Burner site so I can relate to what you are experiencing.

Please take all this as constructive feedback rather than negative, I just want to share with you what I think may help you.

Google has got a lot smarter with their methods for indexing websites and unfortunate for us we need to know what exactly changes are needed to trigger the Bot to index our sites successful. I am battling hard with Google to fully index my site and keep it index and a number of times I had to do a complete overhaul of my design. With Google updating their index every couple of months you will see your site raise and fall like a yoyo on their engine.

MSN is different, their Bot just sucks up information like there is no tomorrow so it’s a lot easier for anyone to Spam their engine. The majority of my traffic comes from MSN but I am fearing this will change quite soon as it seems MSN is catching onto the whole SEO thing.

You mentioned:

Directories < Try to submit to at least one directory per day, Google is clamping down on sites that over submit or spamming directories on regular basis – so keep it slow and steady.

. Although directories won’t bring a flood of traffic their main purpose is to boost your back links, which is good for when the Search Engines analysis your site. It is extremely important that you submit to a directory category related to your site i.e. Main Directory/Technology & Computers/Computer Hardware.

Press Release < Do you mean site related news posted on your site or sending a newsletter to a database of visitors that had requested a weekly or monthly newsletter?

Articles can work wonders, when submitted to the correct sites. Basically all you do is write up 250-500 words on something related to your site, lets say “building a custom computer” that mentions what hardware parts you need etc. At the bottom of this article, it will have your name and a link to your site, which is then submitted to a site like http://ezinearticles.com/ who will publish it. By doing this, you are giving users of ezinearticle permission to use your article on their own site which helps your back links again but also gives a traffic boost. NEVER publish articles on your site that has been submitted to a site like ezinearticle as Google will see the content is duplicated which could result in them ignoring your site. Run a quick Google on submit articles and you will find more sites to submit articles.

Blogs < I suggest you get at this straight away as it has a number of factors that will assist your site. Blogging is a lot easier than designing a site or maintaining a Forum; it is the same as sending an email but with more options.
Blogs can drive hundreds if not thousands to a site per day if you have the niche market, Technology and Gadget Blogs seem to do very well. Search engines love Blogs because of the fresh content being posted; it is important to make at least one post per day on your Blog and can be only two sentences if you want.
As time goes by you will get better in writing posts and keeping readers interested but you will also learn in the in’s & out’s of the backend of your bogging account.
The great thing about Blogs is that they are free so you can have a number of Blogs covering a wide range of subjects from building computers to best methods used for combing ones hair 

Forums, another great way to drive traffic to your site by either posting a link during a discussion or the link on your sig this will also help your back links. You will get more traffic from a related forum rather than a non-related. For example, people reading this post will probably check my site out and I may just receive 20-26 visitors from here but if I post in a Technology Forum regarding a specific topic I could receive 200-400 easy in one day.

The following would be more specific to your problems with Google so if you want to build on their traffic then you may want to consider following this.

Search engine bots will look at the first few bytes of your head tags so it’s important the right information is on here.

You have <META NAME="copyright" < Remove this as its taking up valuable Bot scan time. You already have a copyright at the bottom of your page which should be enough.

<META NAME="revisit-after" CONTENT="1"> Do you have a specific reason for this being in the head tags? If not remove it.

<title>Mad Kad custom built computer - Custom computers - Car computer</title> Theses tags are extremely important and your not using them to your full advantage. You may want to experiment with these using words and phrases that is also in the head keywords and the page content example : >Build Custom Computers easily< Using Mad Kad in the title is not really a good idea unless it’s a highly known name which would searched on the net each day lets say Nike or Pepsi.

NAME="description" Make sure the description is made up of a couple of keywords and phrases that you have already used in the keywords tag and also that it makes sense because remember what goes here is what shows in the search results so don’t stuff it with keywords.

I also see http://www.adbrite.com link on your site, along with the Shopping Mall and Directory links below that. You are telling the Bot that you have unrelated links on your site, which is not good. Are you buying txt links at all? If so drop this practice, Google is making us aware that they disagree with this practice and have ways to tell if you are. Build all your links manually and without paying for them.

You may want to add more content to your site and if possible in a daily basis keeping the content fresh which tells the Bots “hey I have new info on my site” and that your fully maintaining your site (important in Google’s eyes).

Adding pages like how to fix specific PC problems, troubleshoot hardware and also hardware reviews (I see this link on your forum but it’s locked) would work well with your site.


Google sitemaps would be something to consider, this tells Google directly where the can read all your links and when you add new pages.

Remember the more pages you add with relevant content then the higher chance people have in finding you.

Also the most important thing to consider is patience with Google, high traffic from them will not happen overnight.

WOW that is a great post there is some info i didnt know about in there

about the title and page content yes we are sorting that out ASAP as we are uploading a new template that is btter than the one we have now

i would like to say a BIG BIG thank you for that post and i will give you some Green rep for that we have big plans for this year so i will be working on all my site SEO to get it spot on

the only thing is i have one big worry we are ranking in yahoo for a lot of good key words and when i alter all my site i will drop but i am hopeing i will come back as the site will be better

That adbrit link will be going along with some others also i dont buy links i just sell them lol but adbrite has done poo for me so its going

also i have registerd with http://ezinearticles.com/ but every time i submit an articul it gets rejected in one way or another so i gave up after the 40th atempt

i was thinking about a blog well have been for a long time but i really dont understand them lol sorry i meen what the hell do i right about that is intresting??

If you have good keywords then dont change them too much, start writing content based on these keywords and your ranking will get better yet again. Always keep looking for better keywords but make sure its relevant to your site and you also add more content.

Good - always use links thats relevant to your site such as hardware repair links or specific hardware information site, industry standards etc.

Strange, it must be the quality of your submitted article. Remember dont self promote your site and dont use an article you have found on the net.

When I write an article I try and keep it like a story that I wrote in school, simply basic but with quailty information.

Just to get your thoughts flowing think of the title "build your own PC in 6 easy steps". 6 being just an example

Now when writing the article put it like your actually talking to someone face-face and still use some keywords (dont over do it) that you have on your site.

Also read some articles on the web based on the same topic of your site to give you more ideas.

Thats easy, anything you wish as millions of people of all walks of life read blogs.

Try this - launch one Blog based on your site topic which is computers. Now each day toggle the topic for example:

Day 1 write a review for a specific motherboard, show an image of the hardware or the company logo and also place a link leading to the manufacture of the website. You could also cover computer gadgets, flat screen monitors, power supplies...the list is endless.

Day 2: Maybe write about a technical fix, say troubleshooting an IDE port or resetting the bios by removing the battery (I get some good hits for this fix itself).

Now here of the class thing about Blogs, they are free and easy to use so you can have as many blogs as you can handle covering almost anything you want.

So by now you should have some ideas to keep you busy for some weeks but dont stop there. Just to give you more ideas - what is your favorite music? Well why not start a blog on it and go really indepth....slap some ads up and make some money

For now I would learn more about your technology blog and as time goes by you will start learning how to change the code to place ads etc then start preparing for launching other topic blogs.

The good thing about a blog is that you dont need to fill the post with over 200 words, keep it sweet and simple but post at least once per day. Within a number of months the search engines will be eating your blog like cold apple pie sitting on a swing

Sure thing

The great thing about a Blog is that it gives you a couple of options in having visitors leap onto your main site - for whatever page you like.

You could make a small banner and place it on the Blog sidebar, the only thing about this is that you are relying on the visitor to spot the banner and get interested to click.

Now the best way is to add a link into specific posts on certain days. So lets say you add a page on your main site for a specific product that your selling - write a review about the product on your blog with a direct link to product page on your main site. This way if the reader likes the sound of the product he/she will be tempted to click the link on the post to see more on your site and get their credit card out to buy the product

When I add a page to my site I'll go over to my Blog and write a little of the same topic posting a direct link to my new page.

Your were spot on to ask this question as your blog will always find new readers either from Search Engines or RSS feeds so you do need to tell them about this main site of yours.

Just a tip you may want to consider - With your main site start building techincal fixes pages related to the products your selling. The shoe is on the other foot with me, I offer fixes and need to start offering products
