Google problem..

Hi!

I am pet portrait artist that came back to internet after 8 year pause. Things have changed a lot since my last site.. It seams I am having problems getting into search engines, especialy with google.

I read tons of articles (this is how I found this forum) about google rank, search engine placements and so on but somehow although I have page rank 3 (as it shows in google toolbar, in other tool that checks rank it shows even 4) I still can´t find my site anywhere when doing a search.

I am exchanging links daily to improve my ranking.

I am hoping to make this hobby my work but first orders have to start comming in.

What keywords are you targeting? I do not see them clearly defined from looking over the site.

Well the most importaint would be pet portraits and pet art since I am drawing and painting pets.

This is from my index.htm:

Am I doing something wrong? Just fire away, I am becoming pretty desperate with all of it... been trying for last couple months to figure out what is wrong.

Links in the forum are a great way to begin getting indexed, have you tried searching for something on your site using the quotes?

What about trying to do a site:yoursite.com search?

After you know your listed, or while your waiting, might as well get a jump start with the Do It Yourself SEO Article

one thing i notice right off the bat is that many of your page descriptions (with a few exceptions) are identical and read:
"Artist Katja Turnsek, Work in progress of my Paintings or Drawings"

it's best to make unique descriptions for each and every page.

Your keywords was too long and had words that are too vague. You will never rank well for some of your words. Try using longer phrases that people will search for. Keep it focused on what the page is on. There are tools that will tell you how relavant you title and description are to the page.

Hi!

My website is online for 4 months. I submited it to google first day it went online.

I did this whit all webpages I ever created and they were all listed in less than a month.

I can´t find mine on any of 73 pages when searching for Pet portraits or Pet portrait. If I would be on last one I would be sure I am listed and that I have to work on it to go higher now I just don´t know what happened.

With MSN I have no problems, I am on first page for pet art and (I think) 3rd for pet portraits.

Maybe I am just beeing impatient.

Well you are in google atleast, so you can be sure of that: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search

As for positioning, you aren't guaranteed good position, work on your SEO and getting links toward your site, your site is a PR 3. Check out the do it yourself SEO. Also, instead of doing bla_bla.htm do bla-bla.htm

Hi!

Finally have enough of it all.. I am working on new site, redesigned and will try to implement all your tips + will follow Do It Yourself SEO Article.

I have to get close to top of google or there is no chance I will have lots of orders. I will also add blog (read that it helps!).

Now the glowes are off google.
