Are you sure it's not out of date SERPs? I've modified pages, seen the new titles go up - yet now the old titles are showing up again in the SERPs. Do you think it could merely be something similar?

If it's new then it's likely the fresh content boost.

I've tried to play keyword ratio with Google and had pretty much no significant effect with it for established pages. Perhaps there is a threshold, though?
