V7ndotcom Elursrebmem Observations regarding the Sandbox and such.
OK, so I'm wondering now. The top results for V7ndotcom Elursrebmem are not old domain names. They are brandnew. They have the keywords in them, but many don't seperate them by dashes. Also: where is the Google sandbox? Everyone is getting mass-links onto domain names that have never been indexed.
Here are more of my thoughts:

We may learn more from this contest than we expected to.

Yes We are. And personally I have never believed in PR or the Google sandbox. I think people tend to oversimplify things ...

The trouble is, it's a non-representative sample - ie, we're not dealing with websites competing with the general internet, but a very niche vertical.
Also, sandboxing often seems keyword-based - see this thread at SEW on that:

Its is keyword based simply established sites. no establised sites for the contest keywords established site already have thousands of links for their keywords this is the sandbox for those keywords.

There is no sandbox, it's about credibility. Google algorithmically assigns it to sites. Some get it right away, others take some time.

I thought I posted ages ago that the so called sandbox was based on the number of times a keyword was searched for.
Some comapany contacted me when the sandbox first apeared and said that their data (terebytes of it) suggested that if a keyword was likely to produce 3+ ad clicks in a 24 hour period, it was affected by the sandbox.
They had supposedly run some pretty extensive testing because they were losing money left and right.

That does make sense. But I've seen a lot of changes lately. And I believe it's no longer like that. Domains gain rankings quickly and then lose them if you do something that Google doesn't like.
It's almost like earning trust, but no longer that you are either in or out.
What I've been seeing lately is a lot of mini penalties. Age of domain has something to do with it, but no longer as much as before. www.thirdsquare.com has now about 1,000 uniques daily from search engines daily and is 1 1/2 months old, while other domains of mine are 2 years old and can't see a light.

I like this thread, it's not oversimplifying the issue. Happy I've started it and am not ashamed to admit I've learned quite a bit
