Certain signals may be used to distinguish between illegitimate and legitimate domains. For example, domains can be renewed up to a period of 10 years. Valuable (legitimate) domains are often paid for several years in advance, while doorway (illegitimate) domains rarely are used for more than a year. Therefore, the date when a domain expires in the future can be used as a factor in predicting the legitimacy of a domain and, thus, the documents associated therewith.
Guess we should all should extend our domains for tens years to prove to Google that we mean business.
I renew mine for either 1 or 2 yrs at a time depending on how much money I've got at the time of the expiration. If that's really a factor, that's just retarded.
Therefore, the date when a domain expires in the future can be used as a factor in predicting the legitimacy of a domain ...
I also doubt this has been implemented, but the keywords here being "can be" and even so, it would be but one factor. The length of the domain age is likely to help off-set this variable IF it were to be implemented I'd think. Further, I'm guessing that if Google were to ever acknowledge the existence of the phantom "Sandbox" that this is more likely a factor for that.
