Yep, I'm in the top 10 for all of my keywords in MSN, 50% Google and 10% Yahoo. But I am not telling what my keywords are!

I'm 13 and 40 for the big ones: English as a second language / ESL but much higher for lots of other related phrases. I have other keyword targets that can not be mentioned... I like to have some secrets too!

Yep, top ten here too, for about 2000+ keywords, of which 30 or so are targetted, the rest is accidently.

I think everybody is in the top ten for at least some keywords. Problem is, what keywords?

I have first pages for all the keywords I want, except for one which has the most competition from commercial and government sites who all spend huge amounts of $$ on advertising and seo.
... but I'll get there too, it will take a while but I'm slowly moving up.

I have a lot of small 3-4 keyword phrases that I rank in the top 3 on Google, Yahoo! and MSN, but I would say my most recent accomplishment would be the site I have #4 in Google, #1 in Yahoo! and #1 in MSN. These rankings are for a 2 word keyword phrase with an inanchor/intitle of 15,800 and 3 mil results. My main income from this site is from affiliate sales... Happy thus far.

I'm #1 in MSN for a couple of great keywords, but still waiting on Yahoo and Goo. The keywords are giving me traffic, but it's not nearly as much as it would be were it top 10 in Google and Y!.
Funny thing is I have some OK keywords in top 10 (top 5) in Google... problem is they dont' get a lot of searches. (so really they're crap).

It all depends...
If you take Google, for instance, they present results (and PPC links) based on your browser's default language, your geographic location (using your IP address) and your recent searching profile (secret stuff, I'm being told).
This type of very targeted result generation based on various personal preferences is going to be THE big thing in search engine offerings for the next few years so even though you think you're number 1 for several keywords, it's no guarantee it's that way everywhere and for everyone.
Create unique value and it'll help you score big, sooner or later.

Well said.
I dabble in SEO, even more so lately, but to be honest most of my sites have a sticky factor. Something that makes people come back and link to it.
That is what I think gets me high search rankings as opposed to my fumbling in the dark SEO practices.

I get page 1 on google for about 17 (out of 100) of my pages primary keyword phrases
most pages rank page 1 for at least 1 long-tail (secondary) phrase
many more accidental phrases
create enough content and you will rank page 1 for more and more phrases
the better the quality of your content the more page 1 rankings you will get
