Chinese sites rank in top 20 with no english

For web site design I think I have droped to something like number 102

In I think the top 20 21 22 there where three chinese sites that had no English on them at all.

The only thing that would make since here is that Google is putting more weight on incoming links then they did before.

But still there not even English

It just gets stranger and stranger doesn't it?

I believe that the mechanism used to select the pages to be considered for ranking on a particular keyword has changed and a part of that change seems to be links from expert sites and/or quantity of links.

I wondered why suddenly a Geocities two page site was ranking #1 for a competitive term until I checked the number of inbound links reported (in the millions)

I'm thinking links may start to play a bigger role then they already do.
