I just started using webmaster tools and have found it very useful in error detection, meta targetting and there was no issue with uploading the file to my site. It's a free tool to add to your SEO arsenal.

google webmaster tools show me how my site is performing ..about the posts that have been indexed and the impressions and views that have taken place in a day. It also shows the position of my posts in google for certain keywords.It also shows crawl errors and also check the google webmasters for malware etc.

There is no such kind of drawback. If you are really worried about it, you can delete the file after you verified your website.

u just need to put that html file for a sec until google verifies.

mean press verify button in ur webmaster cp then u can remove that file.

also your question is like that u are asking how is google in search.

in seo google webmaster is a must to track all the developments of ur site
