Question, checking google back links, quotes VS link

I know when type link: before my site on google, i will see how many back links my site has.

but i also saw some people using single quote, e.g, 'www.ledgifts.com'. it also return a bunch of links.

what are the differences between these two methods?

is it possible that, when using link:+site, will get backlinks which are from pr4+ site, while single quote return any links?

1st method shows PR4+ backlinks only. A clear way of instantly seeing how any update has affected your links.

The second shows where your actual URL occurs - so even the lowest PR pages are counted.
