Maybe there are problems on the server; I often use the same when there are sites accepting only short links and I haven’t encountered such problem.

See, short URLs behaves in a similar way as any normal URL does. Probably you are still not getting any traffic from these URLs or probably your statistics are not updated yet.

There are some issues with the google reflecting the data in the analytics. Even my analytics show data as unknown. There is an update on the blog regarding this issue.

Have you tried visiting the Google URL shortner website when you are logged into your google account? There should be a dashboard of some sort with some stat's from the links you created in there.

I believe you was referring to this article:

Google's goo.gl URL Shortener Used for 'Drive-by' Malware Attacks
Quote:
A new malware attack is luring victims by using web-based exploits to perform a 'drive-by' malware download under the guise of an electronic money transfer.

Researchers at Solera Networks reported that the attackers make use of Google's goo.gl link-shortening service to hide the location of the attack site.

The attacks claim to originate from the 'Electronic Payments Association' and notify potential victims of a failed direct deposit attempt. Clicking on the link included with the message redirects to a site which attempts to perform a number of exploits using vulnerabilities in Flash and Java.

Andrew Brandt, director of threat research at Solera Networks Labs, told V3 that the attacks are part of a much larger trend in which cyber criminals target browser plug-ins and third-party components

i always found google URL shortner easy and comfortable in use as respect to other ones. The issue you came across may be some temporary issue...

If you are expecting the visits to reflect in Analytics under referrers then you could be wrong... because visits from a wrapped url's are very likely to show as direct traffic. You can however track your visits in the url shortner tool itself. I use bit.ly to wrap the url and it shows the number of clicks a certain URL has obtained and the source too.
