I noticed Google showing ODP for a site of mine. I hope this tag kicks in soon. I think the OPD info is messing up my rankings.

Can you, or anybody else who is using this new tag, see any effects other than the use of title and description.

It's only 'supposed' to disallow the use of the dmoz title and description in your listed results.

Yes, I know. But I have also read people complaining that the DMOZ title and description were hurting their position within searchresults and as a result their number of visitors decreased. So I'm wondering if people now see an effect from not using the DMOZ description/title.

Until now nobody seems to have any experience with the NOODP tag that they want to share.
I found this on an other forum

I wouldn't base my actions on the experience of one webmaster. I would want to see what happens when the NOODP tag is used on several sites.

Well could it be that DMOZ has probably the next highest ranking next to Google and Yahoo! and maybe the anchor text from DMOZ and a few other links in the past might have modified your ranking in Google?

eh, my 2 cents guess...

As we all know... google directory is a copy of DMOZ directory. Maybe that's why?

Now it is beginning to make sense, for me at least

Google uses ODP to feed most of its searches, which explains why those who use the "NOODP tag" experience a drop in Google Serps. So if you really want to know how you rank in Google by Google, use NOODP

Recently, Google has been penalizing directories by reducing their PR. Is there a possibility that Google sees these sites as competition or penalizes these sites for similar content because they use ODP listings too. Hmmm... something to think about.
