There are several parts to understand about Local Business Listings and I will try to focus on the primary items to give you a starting point.
1. Local Business Listings show on the first page of a search, making it important that you find how to use this marketing tool.
2. Once you have claimed (or verified) your listing you will be able to put your marketing information into them. This includes company description, keywords, images, photos, videos, coupons, offers, discounts, events, promotions.
3. You can get customers who are satisfied with your business to post positive ratings and reviews, which also helps with prospects to who find your listing.
4. While Google is the primary one to focus on - Google Places - there are over 200+ websites in this industry which Google uses to validate your business...these are called Citations. Meaning just working on Google is not really a good thing. There are other websites that fall into five categories: search engines, social communities, 411 websites, GPS websites, and business directories
Whether you are B2C, B2B or Internet Business you want to at minimum claim our listings so they are not hijacked by someone else.
