Does Google Panda update target my website with empty pages?

A site with 10 pages all relevant to the niche but a lot of other unimportant pages is not justified to be an optimized website?

I wouldn't say they will necessarily harm the ranking of your other niche pages. But if they are completely unrelated then they certainly won't be helping in anyway, so not sure why you have theym there in the first place? What is the point of them?

Google ranks pages, not whole sites. So I don't think it would matter if you have unrelated pages.

either remove all those pages or do something to make it SE friendly.. pages on your site that don't have any content is not good..

If they are irrelevant then you should remove them, not necessarily for Google but to keep your site content consistent and relevant.

Hi.
If Google caught that your site consists of irrelevant data then you will be in a trouble. Better to remove all unnecessary information.

Google make sure that every page associated with a website must be relevant to the website (before giving credit of the page to the website). Creating or linking unimportant or irrelevant pages is mere waste of energy.

It will not harm your site at all, The Panda update was targeted towards "content farms" that contained junk and spam content. The irrelevant pages may not help you much as far as rankings but they certainly will not hurt. What you should be looking at is the "quality" of your content.

Is your content of high quality ? Before you answer that and say yes, do you understand what high quality content is ? Let me explain what it is so you do understand. In order to create quality content, your articles must contain proper spelling and grammar, semantically related words, and read at a proper grade level that corresponds to your niche, according the Flesch-Kincaid readability test.

Tweak the quality of your content and make sure it is offering your visitors and search engines what they want. Once you have tweaked this content then build some backlinks and wait and see what happens. This is a part of marketing, testing!

Not to worry if some pages in a site are irrelevant, Google won't penalize for that. But make sure that the pages are free from malware.

Pagerank is given to each page not just to home page.
