Why Do You Care About Pagerank?

High PR websites are gets high visitors as compare to low PR websites.

I've said this a few times on this forum or on other forum's.

I don't care about my PR or PR in general. I care about traffic coming to my blog. Without traffic your site is a useless piece of web space. The only time PR comes into play is when you are selling ad space or your website. The PR tends to help out the sale but unique traffic is what i look for.

Page rank use to have far more weight than it now does. Most get confused and think PR = site rank versus just what it means, page rank. As to say if v7n.com has a PR of 6 that doesn't mean v7n/somerandompage will, so if you were to have your site linked on that page it wouldn't be as beneficial as one may think.

My way of looking at pagerank is, its just a reflection of the number of backlinks it has. The backlinks may be natural or its just have been bought by the website.

Rather, as per my opinion, a quality website will have a better page rank by natural linking, a good alexa rank with actively responding followers in social media.

Nowadays, even the search engines would not consider the page rank as a major factor, rather the new algorithm will be focussing more on social media signals, average time on site, number of clicks on your website and its traffic.

So dont just waste your time on getting paid backlinks and repeated submissions. Build a quality website with which you can get natural backlinks, which automatically raise up your page rank.

If you are doing task for your client. then you dont need to care about this, because client needs website top ranking and leads from website.

So ok, high PR doesn't necesarely mean you will rank higher for your keywords. So what makes your keywords rank higher? Does backlinks improve PR and keywords rankings ?

I still care about it, as its an important factor in the rankings. I still always check the PageRank of my competitors and want to increase mine.

How old is your website? The PageRank seems to update every 3 months or so.

It is about one year old, but I started really taking care of it 2 months ago. If it's true what you say, then I'll probably have to wait a few months.

To answer your question, the reason why people worry about pagerank are for a number of things. Take link building companies, they have no choice to build value and rank for the site they own. If not then people would be asking too many questions on how they build links when they can;t even get a pagerank up?

Then there are other reasons like having a pagerank of 6 and selling link ads on your site for about 50-100 bucks a month. It adds up and is great money. People want value in links and links google can trust, this is why google rank takes place. Without google ranks how do you expect to rank or get traffic to your own site?

Don;t forget traffic comes in handy too, but even that is very difficult to judge and people tend to over abuse this. Take flippa.com, they sell sites but you will always see people selling these sites so cheap with such high traffic. The reason for this is that they purchase the traffic so all you see are the results without proper evidence. I would stick to pagerank in order to rank and get traffic to my site, but there are so many ways of doing so, i am just trying to make you understand the difference between the two.

Actually the page rank represents the website's reputation in the Google/web. So, it may be concerned but actually i do more concentrate on improving my website's keywords ranking (by building as many do follow backlinks with anchor texts/keywords).
