Does PageRank affect the rate at which Google indexes websites?
I have just made some minor changes to my website. The changes mostly being colors of text and a few word changes.
However, it appears that Google now (as opposed to a year ago) reindexes my website much much faster.
Is it possiible that Google re-indexes websites more frequently as based on Page Rank?

What would course quicker indexing would be the age of your site, its now becoming more popular with more relevant backlinks links, that create more traffic.

More popular sites will be indexed quicker, but I don't think the metric they use for it is PR or at least not PR alone. (However a higher PR site is generally going to be more popular, meaning it will probably be indexed quicker.)

I think that the more backlinks you get the more often a google bot will find a link to your site and end up on your page, so more links would mean your website would get indexed more. I don't think that PR makes a difference other than the higher the PR the more likely you will have more backlinks.

Page Rank don't play any role in index of your website, it is your backlinks that matter and frequency of content update

It seem like PR improve crawl rate. But fact is backlink improve crawl rate, not PR.
High PR site get more authority backlink, so Google bot visit them more often.
A>B>C>D>E
If A is authority site, Google visit A first then goes to B, C, D and E. E is far away from authority site, so the crawl rate is lower.

No, not at all. PageRank mere defines the quality of backlinks your website has got. It has nothing to with indexing.

PR = where you linked
Quality backlinks = How you linked
Backlinks helps to get quick index and good SERP.

Page Rank affects the index of the websites. If the page rank are high then web sites are top in index position

I have never been able to determine a definitive purpose for page rank, and how google uses it. Obviously PR is a comparative tool for webmasters, with an emphasis based on backlink quality. However, it does not seem likely that google created this PR system and does not utilize it throughout their alogorithims. I speculate PR does impact the rate of indexing, albeit just one small aspect of a larger alogrithim that dictates indexing.

My experience...if the website is constantly updated with fresh contents, posts are get indexed faster. I have a blog which I update once or twice a week and posts get indexed in minutes, sometimes less than a minute.

Ok, how about this then:
"How often does Google crawl the web?
" Google's spiders regularly crawl the web to rebuild our index. Crawls are based on many factors such as PageRank, links to a page, and crawling constraints such as the number of parameters in a URL. Any number of factors can affect the crawl frequency of
individual sites."
Source: http://support.google.com/webmasters...n&answer=34439
For those who claim PR isn't a factor, please note that is first in the list. For those who claim that it is the backlinks that result in PR that are the factor, please note that PR and links are listed separately.

No, Page rank doesn't have any role in indexing of website. It is frequency of content update on your site that matter and play role in indexing of site.

Oh right, so what Google says is untrue then? Do you have some evidence to support that?

Page Rank has nothing to do with website indexing. It depends on your update frequency on the site.

And you disagree with Google's statement that it is a factor in determining the frequency with which they crawl sites to rebuild their index because....?
No-one is saying that there are not other factors involved, but the question only concerns PR.

Page rank is not a good factor to indexing the content asap. Try these steps if you want index your site ASAP
1) ping your site into ping sites like http://www.pingfarm.com/ http://pingates.com/ www.pingoat.com
2) update your site on daily basis or thrice or more than this because google loves fresh content and google crawlers crawls and index in their database.
3) Share on your Social networks like Twitter, FB, Linkedin, Pinterest
4) Link with fresh articles and submit in top authority sites.
5) Submit RSS FEED in RSS Submission sites.
6) Submit in top 25 Social bookmarking sites like Digg, SU, DEL
7) And follow these on-page activities too will help you to index the content ASAP

PR is not a single factor to index your content. follow above tips you will get positive results.
All the best

The simple answer is yes, as evidenced by Google's statement, although there are other factors as well which may carry more or less weight than PR.
