Google May Have Made The Worst Mistake In Its History This Week

Google has made mistakes in the past.

Like Wave. And Buzz. And releasing unfinished products. And allegedly taking money from rogue Canadian pharmacies for illegal ads (that was a $500 million mistake).

But its core business -- the search engine that is still responsible for the vast majority of its traffic and revenue and profit -- has never been threatened.

Bing? Nice try, but nobody outside Microsoft really believed it was enough BETTER than Google to make the switch.

Until this week, when Google started putting stuff from Google+, its new social network, into search results.

Within the last 12 hours, Gizmodo has called Bing a better search engine than Google, and Dave Winer at Scripting News said he was sick of Google's clutter and would switch to Bing if Microsoft promised not to muck it up.

Here is why Bing can't top Google.

Bing does not search current things except on corporate websites.

I have almost 300 articles published on various topics that feed to Google News Feeds. Every one of them is indexed by Google. Bing only has about 10 to 20 indexed.

Typically, these articles have a Google page rank between 3 and 6

What are you exactly getting with Bing?

From what I see the user is getting Corporate Propaganda and old stale blog-material.

In addition, the only articles of mine that Bing has indexed are the oldest articles that I've written. Those are almost a year old.

I have believe on bing results but bing needs some to improve his results and needs some more feature like same as google PR. Thanks

Sorry, I do not think that Bing can top Google. Microsoft tries but falls short-Like the indexing part which Stephengfm noted.

The article has some merit. Providing preference for + listings will in the long term hurt Google's reputation. Rather short-sighted of them IMO.

My articles rank fairly well in all 3 SE if you are looking for content and not keywords so I won't complain about any of them.
