Google PageRank Update: May 2012
Quote:
Hold on to your seats - there is a Google PageRank Toolbar update happening right now!
Twitter is going wild about it...
...In any event, ranking changes have no direct correlation to a new toolbar PageRank update. Google's PageRank numbers are constantly being updated internally and Google gives us a sampling of it from one point in time every few months or so, just to keep their *PR* wheels moving....

This does not add up to me we all know there are loads for different tools to view links going to our own site and competitors site ie ALEXA.com i like most use these to see who is linking in on my site and competitors.for example my site is A and i can look at site B,my competitors site and just on Alexa site A has 228 liking in sites many are high page rank Youtube, twitter, digg, mypace, ect,ect site B has 4 sites in total best being directory pr1
site A has 1000 word of content on home page and all good quality, site B has none or next to none flash images ect Yet site A is pr1 and site B is has just gone up to pr 2, site A is 9 months old and site B is just over a year.
dont add up to me.

PageRank has absolutely nothing to do with qualitative factors.
It is a purely mechanistic mathematical calculation that is solely dependent on counts of pages and links.

Well, Google has updated the page rank also.

No schedule whatsoever.
BTW, Panda is over a year old; it's been an ongoing series of rolling reevaluations of previously collected data.

Thousands of designers are doing this. In fact, my theme creator did this and they well known online. I removed there footer link since i was allowed to.
I should check my PR sometime soon, have not looked at my PR since 2011. lol

It is not the case that such designers are being penalized, but simply that such links are being discounted with respect to their contribution to the target Domain Name's Link Profile. It is also possible, though there is no evidence to suggest that such is the case, that they will be treated as "nofollow," thus discounting them for PageRank purposes.
So, no harm will come from such links; but, neither will the expected benefit.

I've seen a site which ranks fairly well for the term SEO by doing footer spam on their client's websites. Google might have missed them, I guess.
Of course I'm not going to oust them here, but a word of caution to every one, sooner or later Google will find it and discount them ending your business.

Nonsense.
There is not now, and never has been, a penalty for "duplicate" content.
Neither is it the case that there are any negative consequences for "too many" blog posts or articles.

Interesting thing, on my Croatian pages Pagerank dropped by 1 while the SERP and earnings statistics spiked at the same time. Nuff said on the relevance of Pagerank as a value indicator...
