At first when Google introduced Panda my ranking has drop significantly, but after I've made some change in the way I do things I can definitely see my rankings improving again. I'm not to worried about Panda updates any more.

Even charity organizations are hit by these Google updates.

It seems like they are in a destructive path.

This is crazy, we just had a penguin update also. Can't these zoo animals go backpacking through the rain forest for a few months?

Yea, it's both. Or all three actually. There was a Panda refresh on 4/18, Penguin on 4/24, and another Panda refresh on or around 4/27.

It seems almost like the Panda refreshes are there to "semi-manually" devalue new links from low-quality sites, so you might be able to see temporary boosts from crappy links just to have them deranked again when they hit the big red nuke button.

Three different algo changes in less than two weeks definitely did a lot of damage to many websites. I think the penguin is to weed out the websites with spam links that initially moved them to the first page for a particular keyword terms. But after the update the rankings of these websites dropped significantly.

I've been OK so far with updates, gone up in search results but that may not be the case next week who knows, seen six or so sites in my niche disappear. in some ways the sites that now show up to me seem to be poor quality. Yet Google states they want quality content.

After contemplating the Codenames, the path of destruction for Google on websites appears imminent.

Let us first look at the names: Panda and Penguin - cute fuzzy creatures.

Let's look at the names in more detail. PAnda and PEnguin.

Do you see the pattern?

P - followed by a vowel in order of AEIOU.

Now if that pattern holds true for the next major update, the codename will be for an animal that begins with the letters PI...

Here is the list of all animal names that begin with PI:
Pidores (a very rare Egyptian worm); Pig; Pigeon; Piglet; Pika (including such species as the whistling hare); Pike; Pilchard (akin to a sardine); Pine Marten (a species of weasel); Pinniped (Latin nomenclature for walruses and seals); Pintail (a type of duck); Pipistrelle (a bat that roams the Old World and Orient); Pipit (the name for a group of singing birds); Piranha (carnivorous fish that inhabit rivers in South America); Pit Bull (a breed of American dog rooted from the pit terrier and bulldog); and Pitta (a family of birds found mainly in Asia and Australia).

My personal choice according to an un-publish article of mine, is the word PIG. However, if you feel that Google is on a rampage, then perhaps you would vote for PIRANHA or PIT BULL.

Similar to what in particular? Did you really read the entire thread?

Anyway, lots of updates going on around Google lately. I guess people should be aware of these changes by following search engine news sites and blogs. I myself is working on adjusting on these updates. I hope they lessen the update in the future. Or maybe update it once or twice a year.

I mean on YouTube they are putting partners on the first place. When someone searches something on YouTube is more likely that a partner is going to be placed on the first page.
