I do this a little in my spare time.

I've noticed that it's very hard to get a story to the top of Google's feed.

I'd love to hear from an SEO expert on what techniques they'd advise someone who is writing about the news to use in a news story for Google's SERP(News).

I've managed to get about 5% or less of my stories to stick on Google's Topic Keywords for that story. And there appears to be no rhyme or reason to it at all.
