Ahh but there's always some nasty little wanker looking at porn in those friendly families. Porn and internet seem to go hand in hand, not really porn and Google.

This is tough one to fix. One the outside it is easy to understand what is porn or what is not, but when you type in "Britney Spears pictures" it is not porn, but most results are.

I think this is exactly what they are trying to fix now with the recent release or effort to release their big daddy update. You will find many website owners complaining on forums that a large amount of their pages have have been placed in the supp index.

Research results

1)Filtering commercial sites out of google can be nearly impossible for non-epxert users who don't use advanced syntax.

Searches for reviews, information, opinions and info -about- products, information about holiday destinations, publicly traded companie etc etc

the answer in the search market was given however by yahoo mindset (mindset.yahoo.com) which is still a beta, but doesn't quite work perfectly yet.

Still does a much better job then google in finding genuine, non-commercial info.

2) Try searching for time sensitive information such as manchester v barcelona results, or vote results, etc etc. Even though google has the power to sort time sensitive data from it's massive database by traffic trends etc, they haven't still cracked the right balance between fresh content and link data in their results..

Some times you don't want to land on manchester united's site when you look for match results, you just want a site that does just that - results..

Given that users use search engines as their default launch pad to the internet, you'd expect SE to eventually get smart like that- and act intuitively (depending on keywords naturally) to realise if you're shopping, researching, looking for news ( fresh content ), comparing products, looking for porn images, local pizza houses or the phone number of your dentist.

3) Mobile search: Google mobile is one of their most dissapointing products in my experience. There is no such thing as geolocation, and to find movies in angel, or just the phone number of a cinema in Angel - London N1, you need to browse 10 minutes through endless junk before finding any cinema results.
Mobile and local searches have a looong way to go before they are satisfactory. yellow pages or information call centres are still faster and cheaper to use.

I hate when I get something that looks great from the SERP description that's just plain crap when you actually get to that site.
That always pisses me off for some reason. Or when the serp description says something that is 100% different from the actual site's current description...

Google includes way too much crap...

I wish I could pay my way into serps, because google gives me no love with my pet site that has all unique content and great seo...

Unless of course, I am in the "sandbox"

You know....... I think an SEO contest using EXISTING phrases with a million or so results would benifit SEO's more than the fake name game. I'm starting be believe Google puts a LOT of weight on the age of a site. When you take that measure out....?...
