no cache, except old money...

I know that something is happening at Google that's way over my head. All I know is, is that my eight page site hardly appears in Google's cache.

My homepage was originally index.htm

Last year I implemented some asp code, and the home page became /default.asp.

I got rid of /default.asp in Feb/March, so it doesn't exist anymore.

Now, if I do a cache:www.mydomain.com - I get nothing
if I do a cache:www.mydomain.com/index.htm - I get nothing
If, out of curiosity, I do cache:www.mydomain.com/default.asp (which doesn't exist) is see the homepage, cached on 20th May.

Go figure!

not only that, but only one other page in my site shows up in the cache. The other six 'don't exist'

Fortunately, I have quite a lot of hair, else I'd be totally bored by now

Could anyone shed some light?

read this thread, it may shed some light on your issues. if you have all of those pages, all being your homepage, with the same content, maybe you were banned for having duplicate content.

I only ever had ONE home page - the ones they replaced were deleted.

Also read this thread. people have been discussing the google indexing problem. matt cutts had said that the indexing problem was fixed, but i am not so sure about this. it seems like people are still having problems. your not the only one.

Just checked today, and Google has now cached more than half of the site, so I've been rehabilitated.

In fact it's four of seven - somehow I misled you all when I said it was an eight-pager.

I actually prefer, gfriedm1, not to make the domain name available on this forum as I notice that the spiders crawl this site alot and, as a new site, I would rather, at this early stage, that links and snippets in the search engines are as relevant as can be. So, as my site is not about Google's cache or its indexing methodology, I'll respectfully decline your request.

Are they the right seven though? For me, I get listed pages that haven't been there for months, and no list for pages that should be there - If you compare the actual seven with the seven listed, I think you find a discrepancy.

I have a google sitemap and a robots.txt file that ought to help matters...but no.
