Really like this article, and it is something (when discussing the directory industry) that I have been saying for a number of years.
Something like Brand Brand Keyword or Brand Brand Region is always going to be a far better anchor than Keyword Keyword Keyword. Simply having keywords in anchors is far too generic.
I can imagine affiliate marketers tearing their hair out since, the majority of their websites are basically "keyword-keyword-keyword.com" as the URL.
But let's be 100% honest about what they do. It's creating junk websites to make money via affiliate marketing. The content they produce is that wafer-thin stuff, that Panda was supposed to knock out. And the links they obtain are those 100% generic anchors which is what Penguin is looking to knock out.
So in their case, I'm not unhappy.
Real companies will always have a real site-name or brand. Therefore building links or obtaining links, or being linked-to or whatever you want to call it, should always obtain the name/brand before any keywords/regions are taken into account.
