Pages in google have to be linked to

I tried to get some of my sites into the google index by putting links up on my blog.
That worked fine, all of them were indexed.
I then took the links down from my blog again and - bam! - only five days or so later all my urls are no longer in the index.

So does every site in the google index need to be linked to?

Another way of fast indexing is using Sitemaps and RSS feeds (they grab your content, search engines notice it and notice your site). But both with Sitemaps and RSS you need to update your content on regular basis (BTW, this is a good way for every site).

And as far as links are ok, just leave the links on the blog or usual sites, and you are in the index. I adore getting into the index in a matter of days (last time it was 48 hours) and see how others say that it is impossible to get out of the sandbox for 2 months.

Thanks for the reply.
I have google sitemaps set up for all of my domains.
Will this allow me to get the sites listed, or do I still have to link to them?

It really is annoying for me, because I can not leave that many links up on my blog.
I can not even let them together on one page, because it's not a good idea to give out all of them at once...

Just FYI, pages in the index one day and not in the next might have to do with your viewing different data centers each time.

Generally speaking, yes the pages need to be linked to.
