The updating of back-links indexed by Google

New back-links towards my website that are indexed by Google appear every day, but
the number of links is not updated by Google at all, it remains constant and this has been
going on for about 1 year now.
At link-back.net which practically takes the Google’s query result “link:mysite” and compares it
with the previous result, I can see every new links, each day there are 1-2 new links but still the
number of indexed links is unchanged…it’s the same as a year ago.

The google "link:" tool lies. It shows only a portion of links to your site. But that doesn't mean that google doesn't count other links.

Use yahoo for backlinks.
Google hides lot of links without giving any satisfactory reason.

Correct! And actual google link back updates are done 2-3 times per year. But don't worry, google counts your inbound links very well. The only thing that's characteristical with google is that it doesn't show all inbound links (when the update is performed), but only those which it thinks are relevant and quality. So don't be scared if the update is done but you still see only few more links showed by link: query. To get an idea how many links are actually indexed do a linkdomain: query on yahoo....and that'll show you all sites that link to your
