Google's Accessible Search analyzes each page's navigation system and content (images/text) and delivers results best suited for people sight impaired. The ease for screen reading tools to "see" the text in the page is also being taken into account.

To do this, the feature looks at the HTML code behind the page for specific attributes that make it easier for devices like page readers. "It tends to favor pages that degrade gracefully--that is, pages with few visual distractions, and pages that are likely to render well with images turned off," Raman explained.

Interesting and a good thing.

I am sure Google have tested and it works. However it is not and example for us follow. Invalid mark-up, Transitional doc type, "for" and "id" attributes missing from forms amongst many other things... however it beta and we can all keep an eye for better things. I can only see it achieve Single A compliance under Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0. We should all be aiming for Double A.
