What if Google disappeared?

If Google disappeared tomorrow, just wiped from the face of the Earth. What would happen to the content of the Internet? Would it continue with only a slight downfall or would they crash and burn so to speak?

Everyone would just use a site similar to google.

No youtube, use dailymotion.
No google search, use bing.
No blogger use wordpress.
No analytics use statscounter or one of the many tracking site available for free.
No maps, use bing maps.

Life will go on.

Some other search engine would take its place. Empires rise and fall. And content numbers would probably continue to rise, since new website creation doesn't really depend on Google. Websites are made to ease human demand for information and interaction. As for internet related industry, it would adapt. Google developed successfully after the first dotcom crash, in the business ruins of other companies

if this happens, then other search engines like yahoo/bing will get a chance to come in place of Google and everyone that prefer Google will prefer other search engine..Whether they provide whatever result, they will use that..

Like everyone else said: Life will go on without Google...

The only thing not mentioned so far in the responses is that a LOT of people will hurt because they rely too much on Google and it's services for the sucess of their website/business. Even now, if something breaks (and Google stuff does break), Twitter, blogs and any other avenue available to vent on is filled with whining and demands that the service be fixed NOW!, like it is something that they are paying for and have every right to be stomping their feet in dissatisfaction.

People would switch to Yahoo! and Bing. Yahoo guys and Microsofties will be ecstatic, for they have owned the Internet. Remember Yahoo! is the king of search engines a decade ago, while Google is holding on to Yahoo!'s tail.

YouTube and Blogspot will probably become separate companies or sold to other willing buyers.

If Google disappeared then many SEOs will be un-employed.

But most of the SEOs are earning based on Google. They even don't know how to market/optimize with Yahoo or Bing.

And who's fault is that? These type of SEOs are just as guilty as business owners who put all their eggs in the Google basket.

It's currently the biggest basket out there, so it kind of makes sense.
Google has made things a lot easier than before for everyone (and profited greatly).
I think the people would simply find the next big search engine to SEO with.
Then again, I'm not in the industry and don't particularly care

SEO wouldn't be easier....... if competition increases in any search engine then it would become like Google..

If you produce best quality site, do best SEO then you would get best position..
