Links
Is this guy ranked high in google becaus he has a bazillion links off his site with the words "Dedicated Server Help"
http://www.dedicated-server-web.com/...d-server-help/
I`m working on that keyword for one of my sites, and was thinking I bet no one links to him.. but he is rated #1 for that term and all he has is links off the site
Hows that work?

So, basically, that site is ranking high because there's no real competition. PR is only 4 - shouldn't be too hard to beat. A quick look at Overture and Wordtracker says that it's a very low traffic term.

I optimized my site for that search term because that is what I provide exactly... so while the traffic may be "small" it is 100% my target market.
I hopefuly will be able to pass it up..
Do you have suggestions for possible changes on my site to make it rank high for that term...
Thanks
-Todd

You're main concern is lots of backlinks.
However, you could enhance onpage elements - use of keywords in your first h1 tag, link in header graphic with alt="dedicated server help", and get some good copy up.
One thing you're particularly lacking is a sense of dynamicism. You could really do with improving your copy text on your homepage, to show more of what you offer. I mean, *nix systems - so which platforms? All? State which ones! And don't mention windows - just say that you're a *nix specialist.
You could also do with a little more info - for example, on getting started, you could do with covering far more topics. Maybe it's early days, but this is where you can really sell your expertise.

Well after what 3 days?
I`m now #6 on google for "Dedicated Server Help"
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&i...ed+server+help
Thanks guys!
Is it possible to optimize for other keywords now without loosing this keyword/position?
Thanks!!! This forumrules!

I'm sure you can improve on that position.
Really, links are going to be your big best friend - links that include the words "dedicated server help" in them.

Thanks, I added a few more links tonite, but I went for 'server help' figure I want to start tackling a larger term beuase dedicated server help didn't show any results in overture...
My ranking should start improving though as i add more sites.
Does linking from sites with related content help more than linking to it from an unrelated site such as one of my off-road sites?
