I just found it funny how wide Google has expanded over the net. They are becoming the net, oubeating all other services, making millions.
First off, they have Google. If you don't know what this is, you have problems!
Something a lot of people don't know is that they make loads of cash from submissions.
In addition, they have Gmail, the best free email service. We all know it is the best, or you're in denial! If you didn't know, they also make a ton of cash from this. All those ads in your inbox make them millions!
They have Google Adsense in addition. They not only make a ton with this, but are probably the most popular ad company out there! And how did they do it? They scammed a lot of webmasters to achieve this! Read JohnScott's post here: http://blog.v7n.com/2006/05/03/adsense-is-evil/
They also have thier unpopular products such as Google IM, Google Maps (Bussiness listings), Google Base (like a big Blog), Google Video, Google Book Search, Google Analytics, Google Mini (costing $2,000+ for purchase), Google Store, Google Blog, and much, much more!
I say they are trying to take over the net, and it could mean a dark future.

* In case you're wondering, very often a company will own or acquire a domain name to make sure some else doesn't have it (ala [foo]sucks.com). It makes sense. In this case Google acquired this domain on or about 12/25/2004 from its previous owner, a person in Maine, USA.

Like Adam says - "Listen to the veterens, but follow your instincts"
MSN will never get up there, it's all they got XD
Well, and outlook, but does that count as an internet tool?
I didn't even list half of google's tools!
Also, Google3.com didn't work. Only one I tried, so something you said I think is wrong.
Anyway, Google is ahead of everyone.
Microsoft is the leader of computers (for now)
While Google is the leader of the internet. It used to be microsoft though
EDIT:
Why do I think Microsoft will never catch up?
In case you didn't realize it, Microsoft is full of slackers, like Blizzard (Game makers)
On the other hand, Google has been working thier ass' off! Would that be asses or ass'? lol, A weird question to ask, but anyone know?
Jeeze, I wish I worked for Google. Imagine the money you would get out of that!
Not on the internet though
The only thing more powerfull is the government, which, I guess ties into the CIA.....
Doesn't the government "own" the internet? They could easily pull the plug. But if they did, Google would find someway to reconnect everyone, and then they would be the ultimate rulers, so I'd say they are tied. If you are thinking they can just shut down Google, no they can't. If you want me to elaborate (you don't ), than post below and I will prove myself lol
It is interesting to note that Google also owns Googlesucks.org
Anyway, Google is getting richer day by day. And barring few countries like China, Russia, Japan ... Google is the undisputed leader now. So better to make best use of Google to benefit ourselves too.
My site sits above the fold first page for my 3 hardest keywords on MSN and it sits on the first 2 pages on Yahoo without me trying. Webmasters want to jump through hoops and work for that position. When I see my placements on Y & MSN I think "so what?", but a mini leap in G makes my heart skip a beat
G is an affirmation of your ability, MSN ranking is just the thing you get when you make a run of the mill site on Frontpage and Y isn't much better. Somehow it just means less. Until MSN finds that prestige then it'll always be the "kids" search engine. I like it though, it's got promise. I think it'll be catching up in a few years.
I like that G is independent of any technology. Microsoft will always favour it's own crap browser and even crapper site builders. That equals one UGLY looking net *shudder*
As for the power thing, if you can get it, why not? Just don't forget where you came from, when you do it all goes pear shaped.

Google is the ultimate leader now....... But msn is not too far behind.... Its making great new technologies and its new live search engine promises a lot.....
There is only one thing I fear losing, and that is Google Groups (old DejaNews).
I do not understand howcome not more search engines have begun to pick of this kind of content. Webforums are great, but so is usenet. (and the two can work side-by-side).
yes Google is plotting to take over the world first its the net then next thing you know we will be driving Google mobiles and eating out ad Googlebell lol
